North Dakota Psychological Association

About

Established in 1954 by a group of forward-thinking psychologists, NDPA has become a dynamic force for change through direct advocacy, grassroots mobilization, and coalition strategies.

NDPA has been the leadership behind self-certification, state licensure, third party payments, freedom of choice, and direct access to services for Medicaid recipients.

NDPA psychologists have been among the first to receive training from the American Psychological Association and American Red Cross to provide pro bono services to on-site disaster victims and relief workers.

Mission and Goals

The North Dakota Psychological Association (NDPA) is dedicated to fostering awareness of mental health and psychological issues among consumers, the general public, health care providers, and government agencies. The association monitors and lobbies state legislation affecting psychology, improves communication among professionals within the field, builds relationships with other professions, and stimulates research in psychology. NDPA's target audience includes psychologists located in ND and graduate students in psychology. The association's website, ndpsych.org, aims to offer online resources for psychologists and connect with potential clients. NDPA provides valuable resources and opportunities for its members, including affordable professional CEU workshops and conferences, and advocates for their professional interests. The association collaborates with the American Psychological Association (APA) to protect the professional interests of psychologists and extend advocacy efforts to North Dakota communities.
